The Official Start
Yesterday evening, CEDICE held the opening reception for their two day conference here in Caracas. Rafael Alfonoso (President of CEDICE), Rocio Guijaro (Executive Director, CEDICE) and author, Mario Vargas Llosa gave the welcoming remarks.
This morning, in a salon filled with around 500 people, CEDICE kicked off with an emotional first panel. The speakers all expressed the importance of having this conference in a country like Venezuela, where basic liberties are being denied. Among the speakers, was Atlas’s CEO and President, Alex Chafuen. There was an overarching sentiment, one that was filled with enthusiasm, emotion and passion for freedom. It was a great start to what will be a full day of discussions and lectures on how to better promote liberal ideals in Latin America.
